Brainabra (brainabra.com) is an online learning platform operated by Nixloom. In this policy, "Brainabra", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Nixloom. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us using the details on our contact page.
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the platform, why we collect it and what choices you have. The platform is currently offered free of charge, and we do not process any payment information.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a public username (@handle). If you register with email and password, we store your password only as a secure one-way hash. We never store it in plain text. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information from Google. We never receive your Google password.
We store the blogs, quizzes, flashcards and other content you create, together with your publications (groups you create or join), followers and the people you follow. Content you publish publicly can be seen by anyone, including visitors who are not signed in, and may be shown with your username.
We save your learning activity, such as quiz attempts, scores and flashcard progress, so we can show your progress and personalise your experience.
To join a live championship, participants only enter a nickname and can optionally choose an avatar. No account is needed. We store the nickname, answers, scores and ranking for that session. The host and other participants in the session can see them. Please don't use your real full name or other personal information as a nickname.
We count content views to show view statistics to creators. These statistics are aggregated, and we filter out automated bots. Like most websites, our servers briefly process technical information such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the service secure and prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting login attempts).
If you allow it in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are visited, how long visits last, the device and browser type, the approximate location (country or city) and how visitors found the site. Google Analytics does not receive your name, email address or the content you create. See section 3 for details and how to change your choice.
These are needed for the platform to work and do not require consent:
tz): so date-based features such as "On this day" show the right day for youcookie_consent): remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, for 1 yearYour theme preference (dark or light mode) is stored in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited. Its cookies (_ga, _ga_<ID>, stored for up to 2 years) are set only if you click "Accept" in the cookie banner. If you click "Reject" or make no choice, no analytics cookies are stored; Google may still receive anonymous, cookieless signals that cannot identify you.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of the page. When you withdraw consent, the analytics cookies already stored are deleted. More information: How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site advertising tracking.
Some features, such as generating or translating quizzes, flashcards and blog posts, use AI provided by Google (Gemini). When you use these features, the text you provide (for example a topic, prompt or the content to translate) is sent to Google for processing. Please don't include personal or sensitive information in AI prompts. AI-generated content can contain mistakes, so review it before publishing.
We use a few trusted providers to run the platform. They process data only on our behalf and only as much as needed to provide their service:
Some of these providers may process data outside your country. Where this happens, we rely on the providers' standard data protection safeguards, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for Google.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. When you do, we remove or anonymise your personal data and your content is no longer shown on the platform. We may keep limited information for a short period where needed for security or legal reasons, and backups are overwritten on a regular schedule. Championship data is linked only to a nickname, not to an identity. Analytics data in Google Analytics is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically.
The platform may be used in classrooms. Users under the age of 16 (or the age required by your local law) should only use the platform with permission from a parent, guardian or teacher. Children can take part in championships with a nickname only, without creating an account. If you believe a child has given us personal data without proper consent, contact us and we will delete it.
You have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict how we process it. You can edit your profile and delete your account yourself in your account settings, and change or withdraw your analytics consent at any time with the "Cookie settings" link. For any other request, contact us using the details on our contact page.
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features or paid plans. When we do, we will post the updated version here with a revised date. If we make significant changes, we may also notify you by email. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
